John Galliano knitted dress with embroidered tulle, from the Spring/Summer 1998 collection. As seen on the runway.
 
Highly documented piece, a dress of similar design was worn by Cate Blanchett to the 1999 Oscar's, now held in the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and widely regarded as one of the best Oscar looks of all time. Zendaya was photographed wearing a midi length version of this dress to an event at the 2024 Met Gala.
 
Features sheer tulle with floral butterfly embroidery on the front, flowing deep down the lower back. Snap buttons on one shoulder of the tulle and a side zip fastening on the knit. Please note the hemline is slightly different to the runway version. 
 
Condition
Presents in very good vintage condition.
Professionally dry cleaned and ready to wear.
Very faint, subtle discolouration to the knit in some areas, nothing noticeable. 
The tulle is in good overall condition with a small repair on the lower back (see last photo).
